365/44 Sunday February 15 - 2009 - Kayenta Art Festival - A short drive from our home is Kayenta a development of artists who are sculptures, jewlery makers, potters, iron workers, painters etc etc etc. Today they had their Festival featuring over 90 artisans.


Amazing talent in such a small area. This is a view of one of the metal sculptures that was blowing in the wind. This is the weaver showing us how he moves his loom. He was from Prescott Arizona and had the most amazing rugs.

Sorry I didn't get photos taken this weekend except of the Paper White, and I must say it's worth adding a new photo of . It makes me think of Hoya flowers. Funny I'd never made that connection before, but really I don't think I've ever looked and watched one as closely as I have this year. I didn't realize Paper Whites were a cluster of small flowers that form the whole bloom. So pretty. The other 7 plants are really being pokey, I may have them in time for Easter, lol.

OK I have to fess up, I took this photo in November when I was home visiting the family. On my son's deck my daughter-in-law had put an arch and planted honeysuckle on it. There were few blooms remaining but a few was all I needed. When I spotted this photo on my hard drive the other night I knew I wanted to play with it. I duplicated the original photo and added a Radial blur filter to it then with a soft brush erased and blended the flower from beneath until the end result, which you see here. When you click to enlarge you'll see the wonderful curls and twists that mother nature has embedded in this delicate little flower. So beautiful.

365/34 Wednesday February 4-2009 - If you continue on Green Springs Drive, about a 1/4 past our turn off you'll see this sign, it's the only one I've ever seen like it. I had to shoot a photo of it and the road/street it's on. Comical I think! In the bottom photo you can see the sign to the right.

Now keep in mind I live in Southern Utah, this is desert! I suppose there is mud at sometime, short times when it rains. There is, to the cities credit, lots of red dirt all around.

365/33 Tuesday February 3-2009 I had gotten these glass vases filled with tulip bulbs. When the bulbs had grown, bloomed and were done I decided I would hunt for another bulb to replace them. Watching the bulbs grow roots in the water, produce their green shoots and glide up and over the rim of the vases is an enjoyable and makes me feel like spring is just around the corner. I planted 4 of these vases and this little guy took off immediately growing inches over night. Now I have a the bulge of a bloom at the top. The others, well they are still being stubborn producing just a few straggly roots here and there, but that's OK it means my bulb watching days will last for quite some time. As soon as the blooms pop rest assured I'll be back with updated photos.

365/32 Monday February 2-2009 - Flags waving in Mesquite Nevada.

There's just something about a flag waving full out in the wind. These have been waving a lot as you can tell by the rips and tears, which I think just add more character.
