We planted this prickly pear cactus last year in our front yard and got two blooms this year. I was so sad when after the fist blossom (that I had been watching daily for a week or more) only lived a day after it opened. So this morning I made sure I took pictures of the second blossom before it disappeared tonight.

I was totally taken aback by the size of this flower on this agave cactus. Amazing, it must be at least 15 feet tall!

I've watched these cactus or yuccas or whatever they are, grow and then sprout these shoots and pink blossoms, but this morning was the first time I had ever seen the pods on the limb. They just look so out of place.
