365/129 Monday May 12, 2009
I've been checking back weekly the cactus that are in front of the Hospital in St. George. Last year they were just amazing. I thought I'd missed the blooms but when going by today I spotted the blooms covering the cactus. I still need to make a trip back where I can walk and shoot more photos but this will give you an idea. Amazing blooms.

Beep Beep - We were just pulling in the driveway when Paul spotted this Road Runner at the end of the cul de sac. Luckily he wasn't too leary of us and let me approach close enough to get these shots. Still not sure what he has captured in his beak. This is the first one we've seen here.

When I went to gather the newspaper from the driveway this morning this was the sight that greeted me across the street. For all my Pacific NW family and friends, notice the sky!! No clouds just big, blue and brightly lit even at 7 in the morning!

We visited Santa Clara Utah this weekend, a small town founded by Swiss immigrants not far from our home. They were dedicating a new mural that had been painted on the wall of the top floor of the Town Hall. As luck would have it we walked up the staircase just as the artist, Julie Rogers, was giving her rendition of what the painting portrayed, who had posed for it and why she had chosen to paint what she had as a representation of the settling of Santa Clara. The mural itself is impressive for it's size alone, 7 feet high and it spans the full wall at 27 feet. Being new to the area we recognized a few names as she told the story, one from the bakery we go to and one from the fruit stand down the road. But it means so much more now, we have a history to go behind the names of the founding fathers of this small community. And the mural itself, well it's just beautiful, such talent!Sunday, May 3, 2009
