When I was 16 I took the train with my best friend from Portland Oregon to Aberdeen South Dakota
We spent part of our summer with her Grandparents on their farm.
One of my memories of that time were the Prairie Dogs
and how many of them there were.
When we spotted this family in Custer State Park, SD
I was instantly young and transported back to that broad expanse of farmland
and those hundreds of heads popping up from holes in the ground!

Swetsville Zoo, Fort Collins Colorado
All the animals in this zoo are made from bits and pieces
and lots of imagination.  It was fun to wander through,
unfortunately a whole lot of it was surrounded by swollen river
waters so we weren't able to see it all.

As we were leaving Mt Rushmore this morning,

in the morning fog and mist we rounded the corner and there were the sheep!

Momma and 3 babies!

How wonderful and they just stayed there munching as I snapped my camera.
