I was totally taken aback by the size of this flower on this agave cactus. Amazing, it must be at least 15 feet tall!

365/105 Friday April 17, 2009
Skyline Drive, St George Utah
About 2 miles from our house on Skyline Drive are these pull off parks with trails. We stopped this morning on the way home because we always see people up on the tops of these rocks climbing. It's just amazing the view.
The rock formations are just amazing, and to be this close to home makes it even more so. You are literally just steps from town but feel like you are centuries away. It's a real prehistoric feeling once you walk within the rocks.
Here's one shot looking down into St George at the Temple. So pretty on a day like today. Blue sky and about the perfect temp.
Here's another view, looking over another stop to the park and a better view of the Washington City and Zion in the far background. Such a beautiful spot. Click on the photos to get a clearer view.
When you enlarge the photo and pan to the far bottom right you'll see the temple in the photo above.

365/54 Wednesday February 25-2009
I have a thing about Bell Towers lately. There are so many here, with the Mormon population so large there are many churches with towers on each. I've wondered if they are all the same or each different. Another thing to photograph I'm sure. This one was on the old school in the Historic District, the building dates early 1900. Beautiful isn't it, especially against that gorgeous blue sky.

365/52 Monday February 23-2009
More of the statues from earlier this week. These were the readers, a little boy and girl sitting and reading their 
books. I love how they have been placed just out and about in the yard like they are really there just enjoying the sunshine with their books.

When we were out today, we passed by here and I saw a couple of other ones of children jumping rope and jumping over stones, so I'll need to go back and show you them another day!

365/51 Sunday February 22 -2009
I don't know why this sign just captures my interest but it has each time I see it, just off Main Street in downtown St George. I think it must be something from home years ago that's there, buried in the back of my mind, but not yet ready to pop to the surface of my memories. Perhaps from early teen years of walking down Commerce at home in Washington, when signs like this were top notch and right in style. Now they are dated but still there sure is something about them that draws you more than just flashing neon.

We went to Paula's Cazuela for lunch today, it sits up on the ridge overlooking St George. As you enter the restaurant the foyer has this colorful tile scene on the wall right in front of you. Having my camera ready to take my photo of the day I zipped it out. I'd love to have this in my home along with that vibrant blue floor!

365/07 It's 5:41 pm and I've been waiting all day to upload these, what ever Blogger and Picassa's problems they must be fixed now so finally I'm getting to add my photos for today.
Blogger is giving me grief and not allowing me to upload my photos so I'll return later and add them!
365/07 January 7 - 2009 The end of week one! When we went to the gym this morning I grabbed the camera to find just the photo I wanted to add for my last one this week. Only problem is I had so many I really liked, I guess that's a blessing. It would be worse to load them on the computer and not have anything you like. So today there are several ---
Close to the entrance of the gates into our home area are waterfalls and this morning I noticed the ponds were covered in ice. By the time we'd hit the gym and returned some had melted but not all. I chose this photo of just the slips of ice in the water.
We went to Starbucks to get coffee and cut up Red Hills Drive home. This has great pullouts to capture the vistas around St George. Looking South I was able to get this photo of the snow capped mountains.
At the next pullout, less than I mile away I could look directly East across the town of St George and see the mountain in front of me. What took my breath away when the photos hit the pc was this great streak of pink light filtering in from the top left. Magic, that's exactly what this digital photography is!
OK so I had more than I needed for this days photos but once home I spotted the tulips on my desk and had to try a few different angles, I am so delighted with this one. Now I ask you how beautiful is this???
(I got a little nervous at Blogger today so have decided even though I wanted to do one post for each week from here on out it will be a new post a day)

365/06 January 6 - 2009 I awoke this morning to a beautiful sunrise, washing our street with multi-colored rays. I also awoke to white, I feel almost shame faced saying white when the family in Washington has a never ending supply of it this year. But it was white here none the less, so cold again into the 20's as it was yesterday morning. But the sunrise was spectacular as these photos show. Good morning Utah, good morning world.
From my morning's mail came my sisters Thought for Today, most appropriate for my morning's mood - The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes, Marcel Proust - I often wonder how many she thinks of me as she posts.

When I first awoke the sky was still making it's change from night to morning
and as the sun rose so did the colors lighten
until they moved behind my neighbors house a lighter shade of pale...
365/04 January 4 2009 - Tulips - yes tulips in winter. I was at Costco before Christmas and they had these tall glass vases filled with tulip bulbs. White, red and two shades of pink. The label said they would bloom in 3 to 5 weeks and true to their word they have. The other one reached 27 inches and lasted several days before it began to topple. The pink ones are now sitting on my desk so I can enjoy their springy disposition as much as possible before they too decide they've had enough.
365/03 January 3-2009 - We've been invaded! I opened the pantry the other day and here they were with all their cousins, friends, aunt and uncles busily chomping away on our food! YUCK! I am not a bug person. We've had the pest man here 3 times spraying, this last time he kindly informed us we had to give it a chance to work! Yeah right you give it a chance I want them gone! My problem now is where to put the food, I just can't stomach the idea of putting it back in the pantry. So for a few more days here it sits on the floor of the dining room, boxes and jars and bottles and pristine new plastic filled with anything a little ant's footprints could possibly get into!
365/02 January 2 -2009 Utah Winter Sky - I was sitting at the computer, duh, where else would I be? I happened to look up, it was just beginning to get dusk and I spotted the most beautiful skies outside my window. Grabbing my camera I headed first to the front porch, onward down the front walkway, into the driveway and finally in the middle of the street. I'm sure the neighbors must shake their heads and say 'there she is again' but I got some marvelous shots of a beautiful winter sunset!
365/01 January 1 -2009 - Outside my living room window, I'm not sure what this little guy is but I was taken that he was yellow! By the time I ran and got the camera and returned the fat bellied robins had decided to move on, but I was so happy this little guy stayed and posed for me.

365/05 January 5 -2009 - OK this is my proof that I really am going to the gym! We joined Summit last month and I'm so glad. For the past 4 weeks I've gotten to meet with a trainer once a week to help me figure out what machines, weights, reps are right for me. Karen's great, she's close to my age and really understand a body that's not young and fit! I told her my aches and pains, concerns and past problems. She set me up on a routine and it must fit right, even though the sweat pours lots of times I don't hurt like I did when going to the gym in Fresno. And I feel better about me, at least I'm doing something positive. The other photo was taken from the parking lot of the mountains south of us. It still startles me to look up and see snow, after all this is the desert! It's such an unusal year all the way around but how beautiful this winter has been here. I'm surprised at how close we sit to this surround of mountains, they don't seem as big in the heat of summer but sprinkled with the powder of snow they move in closer and grow taller.
